This site is operated by the national management group for the NZDE.  This group has representatives for the program providers, Industry Training Organizations and the Institute of Professional Engineers NZ (IPENZ).

Our intention is therefore to promote technician engineering training in NZ and to provide graduates with an engineering career path that is beneficial to you and to industry.  Technician graduates are vital to the operation of NZ society and industry, and recent studies by IPENZ has identified a growing need for Engineering Technicians in NZ.

The Diploma in Engineering is part of the National Engineering Education Plan (NEEP) which has established clear educational and career training pathways for the training of NZ Engineers from trade through to Professional Engineers.  Graduates from the Practical endorsement to the NZDE (the NZDEP) meet the requirements for technician membership of IPENZ.
